Process control, Integrating Big Data with SCADA systems in water utilities, AI-and machine learning driven process control and performance forecasting, Digital Twins

Asset management

IoT and Big data analytics for proactive asset management, AI- and machine learning for predictive maintenance in water systems including leakage management

ICA in managing natural and man-made process disruptions: early warning, decision support, cyber security, etc.

Submission guidelines

  1. Before you begin
    • All papers should be submitted through the online form below. Logging in to the electronic platform is required prior to submission.
    • After the submission deadline, all submissions are reviewed by the scientific committee for presentation at the conference as a poster, oral or short oral presentation
    • If a paper is selected for oral, short oral or poster presentation, at least one author must register for the conference and present the paper. However, no individual can present more than two submissions. Any further papers must be presented by a co-author.
    • All presenters will be required to register for the conference by 15th of March 2025. Presenters, who have not registered by this date, will not be included in the conference program.
    • Full manuscripts (8 pages) are due by 10th of June 2025 and will be included in the conference proceedings. Selected submissions will be recommended for publication in one of the IWA Publishing peer-reviewed Open Access journals (https://www.iwapublishing.com/journals)..
  2. Submission format
    • Abstracts to the conference will be in form of a 2-4 A4 pages (including text of 1000 words, references and figures + tables). Please use the provided template above.
  3. Preparing your submission
    • All submissions must be written in English.
    • Submit your abstract in Word format (doc./docx.) using the Conference template.
    • All authors named in the submission should be listed in the order you would like them to appear in the conference program and certificate.

Guidelines for publication in IWA journals

The 14th ICA conference is pleased to be collaborating with IWA Publishing journals, Journal of Hydroinformatics, Water Practice and Technology and Water Science and Technology.

Curated and invited by Professor Harsha Ratnaweera (Norwegian University of Life Sciences), this Themed Issue will bring together high-quality research presented at the conference. For authors interested in submitting to this Themed Issue, please review the Information for Authors then submit to your journal of choice by 20 June 2025.

Excursions

VEAS (Vestfjorden Wastewater Company) is the largest WWTP (fully underground) in Norway serving over 800 000 pe in Oslo and surrounding municipalities.

Bekkelaget WWTP has a capacity to treat 500 000 pe from Oslo municipality and a partially underground facility.

Venue

The ICA2025 will be held at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Oslo. The hotel is centrally located in the Oslo downtown, with direct access from the Oslo airport by 20 minutes by train.

Accommodation

There are many options for accommodation in Oslo to fit every budget. We have reserved some rooms at the conference hotel, and there are many hotels offering single/double rooms around 100-200€/night, and shared rooms for 30-40€ per person/night. We will provide with a booking code for the conference hotel during registration process.
